February
Week 1 - I went to a military function on Wednesday night and met a few more spouses. Steve arrived home from Estonia on Thursday night. We met up after work and went to a Belgian restaurant for dinner. Saturday we went to lunch at Lisa & Damien's, along with Lucia and Ariana from the embassy and their families. Sunday we walked to Gamla Stan and did a tour. It was really interesting and afterwards we found a nice little pub with an Aussie bartender.
Week 2 - Monday I did a bit of exploring on foot. Tuesday Steve left for Copenhagen for three days, then onto Oslo. Friday morning I got myself to the airport and flew to Oslo to meet up with him. I wandered around a bit until he and Lisa were finished with work and we took a taxi out to our accommodation. It was about half an hour out of the city and quite a bit uphill, so the view was stunning. We had a bit of a relax, then got ready for the ball. It was a good night and there were some lovely people on our table. Saturday we had the day to ourselves and took a train into the city. We wandered around a bit, contemplated doing a floating sauna, but thought some breweries/ bars would be a better option. We flew home on Sunday.
Week 3 - Monday was spent on chores, we are still in temporary accommodation. Tuesday evening we had a house warming at one of the DAs. Steve was away in Linkoping Wednesday and Thursday. A few of us spouses went to the Modern Museum and had lunch on Wednesday. Friday we got our furniture delivered, our boxes from Australia were also supposed to arrive but they are still in customs. We went out to a lovely restaurant for dinner on Friday night, which was supposed to be partly for Valentines Day and partly to celebrate finally moving in. Steve had a function most of Saturday, then we met up to get some ski clothes for an upcoming trip. Sunday we went to the Vasa Museum, which was really interesting.
Week 4/5 - Our boxes finally arrived on Tuesday and I spent most of the week unpacking. We went out for dinner Tuesday and Wednesday. I had my first spouse lunch on Friday, hosted by the Austrians on Lidingo Island, which is where quite a few DA's live. Saturday we caught the train out to Barkarby and looked around the furniture stores, outlets and IKEA. We had a bit of a chill day on Sunday and went to Kontoret in the late afternoon. It is becoming our favourite local pub and we met some really lovely local people there.
